Where can I place a skip?Any skip placed on a public highway requires a permit from the council. CWSH will arrange a skip permit for you, along with lighting on the skip to comply with regulations, though you will need to meet the cost of doing so. Each council sets their own rate so unfortunately We will advise you of the charge when you ring In wirral and one month in Cheshire.
Do I need a skip permit?Any skip placed on a public highway requires a permit from the council. CWSH will arrange a skip permit for you, along with lighting on the skip to comply with regulations, though you will need to meet the cost of doing so. Each council sets their own rate so unfortunately we can’t tell you how much it will be! Please be aware that a permit will only last up to two weeks.
How much access does the skip wagon need? The skip wagon (the vehicle that delivers the skip) needs at least an 8 foot wide gap to unload the skip. Also, consider if there are any cables or low hanging trees over the area which could restrict access.
What size skip should I get?Skips must not be overloaded. The contents in the skip must not exceed the fill level. This isn’t our own rule to get you to hire a bigger skip – it’s the law! The reason for this is that although we net every skip before moving it if the skip is overloaded Items could still dislodge and cause injury to pedestrians or motorists. It may also be too heavy for the wagon to legally lift.
What can I put in a skip?Environmental legislation forbids these things in skips: tyres, asbestos, computer monitors, televisions, aerosols, gas canisters, full paint cans, fridges or freezers. Also, a fire must never be started in a skip.

When can you deliver the skip? Our delivery times are Monday to Friday 7.00am to 4.30pm and Saturdays 7.30am to midday. We can arrange specific drop off and collection times so please let us know if you require this. We can usually offer a same day service, but would suggest you give us 24 hours notice to ensure your requirements can be met.
How can I pay for my skip hire?Payment including VAT is payable on delivery and can be in the form of cash, cheque or card (we will take card details over the phone).
What happens to my waste once the skip has been taken away?We aim to recycle up to 80% of the contents of a skip. The waste is brought to our own recycling centre where it is meticulously sorted to extract all recyclable materials. We send only the minimum amount of waste to landfill.
How do I know my waste won’t be fly tipped?Cheshire Waste Skip Hire operates a full Waste Transfer Station at Backford and we hold a current Waste Carriers Licence. Both licences are strictly monitored and controlled by the Environment Agency.
