Skip Hire FAQs
Before ordering your skip, we suggest you take some time to consider the points below:
What types of waste can I put in a skip?
Skips should not contain toxic waste, asbestos, batteries, fluorescent tubes, tyres or fridges.
Where can I place a skip?
Permits can be arranged for skips on the highway for a maximum of 2 weeks. If the skip is to be placed on your drive we suggest you consider the type of waste you are removing and the consequential weight of both the full skip and wagon on your driveway. We would not recommend placing skips on flagged or block paved drives without protection being placed first. Also take time to consider any manholes or mains services in your driveway.
How much access does a skip wagon need?
At lease 8 foot width, but also consider if you have any overhead cables which may restrict access.
How long can I hire a skip for?
Midi skips and lockable skips:
7 days - then hire charge may apply
Builder skips: 28 days then hire charge may apply
Roll on Roll off: By prior agreement.
When can you deliver the skip?
We deliver Monday to Friday 7.30 am to 4.30 pm and Saturdays 7.30 am to noon. If you require specified delivery or collection times this can be arranged. We can usually offer a same day service, but would suggest you give 24 hours notice to ensure your requirements can be met.
How can I pay for the skip?
Payment including VAT is payable on delivery and can be in the form of cash, cheque or card at the telephone.
What happens to my waste after the skip is removed?
The waste is brought back to our recycling centre where it is meticulously sorted into different waste groups for recycling. We aim to recycle 80% of your waste.
How can I be sure my waste will not be fly-tipped?
We operate a fully licensed waste transfer station at Backford and hold a current waste carriers licence. Both these licences are strictly controlled and monitored by the Environment Agency.
